Market Solution To L.A. Housing? A handful of firms are building shelter for the homeless using private financing.

Grant Housing and Economic Development Corporation (GHEDC) & LOGOS Faith Development LLC have been awarded a $4 million grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to develop Gateway Place, a new veteran supportive housing project in Watts.

53 unhoused individuals will have an opportunity to live in a residence when the new Bethel Manor Apartments open by 2024. When Virgil Ward was appointed as the new Pastor of Logan Temple AME Zion Church in September of 2018, he made it his mission to ensure that the historical church would find new ways to serve its local community. Now, Pastor Ward is fulfilling his charge to God and his denomination by building housing for the people.

The Harvest Tabernacle Bible Church site is now answering new prayers, for housing. The original church has been demolished and rising is a new structure that will soon become home to up to 50 Angelenos.
